A music streamer — also called a network player — pulls music from a streaming service or a drive on your network and passes it to your system, replacing the disc player as the source. Fundipoint imports network streamers and the software that drives them into South Africa.

Streaming brands we import

  • Lumin — network streamers, Roon Ready and supporting Qobuz, Spotify Connect and AirPlay, controlled from the Lumin app.
  • dCS — network streaming built into a digital range that also covers disc playback and the Ring DAC.
  • Roon — music management software that identifies your library, adds metadata, artwork, reviews and credits, and works across local files and TIDAL alike. Nucleus is the dedicated server built to run Roon Core.
  • Devialet — Phantom streams directly, with no separate streamer or amplifier needed.
  • Audioengine — wireless adaptors for streaming to a system you already own.

Streamer, server and software

These are three separate jobs, and it is worth being clear which you are buying:

  • A streamer or network player is the hardware that receives the music and outputs it to your system.
  • A server such as Roon Nucleus stores the library and does the processing.
  • The software — Roon, or a manufacturer’s own app — is what you actually use day to day.

Some products do more than one of these. A Lumin streamer is Roon Ready, meaning it works as an endpoint for a Roon system rather than replacing it.

Streamers and DACs

Every digital source needs digital-to-analogue conversion somewhere. Some streamers include a DAC; others output digitally to a separate one. From there the signal goes to your amplifier and loudspeakers.

Pre-owned streamers

Used and ex-demonstration streamers appear on our pre-owned page when available.
