Fundipoint imports high-end loudspeakers into South Africa from Vivid Audio, Devialet and Audioengine. Between them they cover three quite different approaches — passive floorstanding and stand-mount designs, active wireless speakers, and compact powered speakers — so the right choice depends as much on the room and the source components as on the budget.
Loudspeaker brands we import
- Vivid Audio — passive loudspeakers, from the flagship GIYA range down to the Oval models. An engineering-led designer whose stated aim is transparent, symmetrical, open sound free from colour, resonance and reflection.
- Devialet — active wireless speakers. Phantom combines Devialet’s hybrid amplification, pairing Class A precision with Class D power, with the drivers in a single sealed unit.
- Audioengine — compact powered speakers for desktops and smaller rooms, with streaming from any app or device.
Passive, active or wireless?
The distinction matters more than it first appears, because it determines what else you need to buy:
- Passive loudspeakers — such as the Vivid Audio range — contain no amplification and need a separate power amplifier. See our amplifiers page.
- Active and wireless speakers — Devialet Phantom and the Audioengine range — have amplification built in, and connect to a source directly.
Cabling is not an afterthought at this level; we also import Crystal Cable speaker and interconnect cables.
